Founded by childhood friends D’Andre Martin and Mike Johnson, Just Chicken stems from a shared passion for bringing people together over a really great meal. The two are excited to share their vision of fresh, flavorful and crave-worthy chicken dishes with downtown Indy. What is Just Chicken? What do you offer? Tell us about your business and how you got started.
At Just Chicken, we are on a mission to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary. Our concept revolves around the universal appeal of chicken tenders, combining them with an array of house-made sauces to create an unparalleled culinary experience. Our menu is a testament to the power of simplicity. We focus on the timeless appeal of chicken tenders, allowing their natural taste and texture to shine. Our curated selection of house-made sauces enhances the tenders without overwhelming them, ensuring each bite is a harmonious blend of flavors.
Co-founders and childhood friends D’Andre and Mike found their passion in the food and hospitality industry. Bringing people together over a great meal is what they live for, and after starting their first concept, The Pit BBQ Grille, in 2015, they needed more. With the Just Chicken concept, the fellas wanted something that would be easy to cook up and fun to make without sacrificing quality or flavor. That’s when Just Chicken was born.
What is unique about your concept?
Bringing quality, fresh, gourmet food to a fast casual concept/setting is what makes us unique. You will be able to taste the fresh, and daily prepared chicken, fresh cut fries, bread and sauces made from scratch with every bite you take.
Why did you want to be part of The Garage Food Hall?
We wanted to be part of The Garage Food Hall because of the unique atmosphere and overall experience of the space. The Garage has an amazing reputation, and we wanted to be a part of this community driven food hall. Not only is the food hall amazing itself, but the people who run and manage The Garage are also great people, and we love the way they communicate and share the same goals and aspirations as we do as a company and individually.
How do you think The Garage will help your business?
We think The Garage would help us grow our brand and compliment the company we strive to be by providing exposure, giving us a spotlight, and sharing the same core values.
Why is The Garage important to boosting downtown Indy?
The Garage is important to boosting downtown Indy in many ways but mainly we would say by bringing people together from all walks of life to have a great experience and enjoying some of the best foods Indy has to offer. It's a hub that brings life out of everyone.
When customers visit you at The Garage, what’s one thing they must try?
With only four menu items you can't go wrong with any option but if I had to pick, I would say the Just loaded fries would be my favorite (D’Andre). Mike would say the Just Chicken sandwich with the slaw on top.
Anything else we should know?
We are excited about the opportunity to bring our love through food to this city. We are looking forward to being a major part of the community in many ways. Just Chicken is here to stay. Thanks Indy.
